out for an evening kayak - put in at the waterfront and paddled past the marina and the annual early fall salmon fishermen. the huge fish begin their journey up the bear river (which runs right by downtown petoskey) every fall, on their way to lay eggs. fishing boats line the bay near the mouth. fishermen are found everywhere in that first stretch of river.
