Future Pilots
The Jet Age Museum held a fundraising day today, 11 September 2011 and one of the major attractions is the nose section of Avro Vulcan XM569 which is open to the public on such event days.
Our grandsons just loved going up into the cockpit and spent some time being Pilots.
The Jet Age Museum is keeping alive the heritage of Aviation in Gloucester. The Gloster Aircraft Company was based in Brockworth, Gloucester, and built such aircraft as the Grebe, Gladiator, Gamecock, E28, Meteor, Javelin. During the war the factory was used to construct Hurricanes and Typhoons to supply the RAF with fighter aircraft. Information is available on Wikipedia.
Other attractions today were a full scale replica of the E28 Whittle, the first UK built jet to fly, a meteor and a Javelin. There was also a Percival Prentice giving pleasure flights.
Great day even though it was typical airfield weather, sunny and a very strong wind blowing!
This photograph was taken by our Son as I had unforgivably forgotten to take my camera!
