Black and white

In late Spring two things happen around here.

1) The cattle are all put back out to pasture. The in calf dairy cows are in the field next door to us and all bar the cows with young calves have gone from their winter lodgings in our byres.

2) The Oystercatchers nest in the fields surrounding us and sometimes, if we are lucky, in the garden. They have been having morning baths in our ponds and wheel around the house for most of the night (well, I suppose it's early morning as far as they are concerned) making a lot of noise. Actually I love the noise but I reckon if you're not used to it, it would keep you awake. You can hear the noise they make here.

So, I guess Spring has sprung!
