Day 3 - Tiburon to Guerneville
Left Tiburon and headed north to Muir Woods National Monument, home of huge redwood trees. Only got slightly lost on the way, but after help from a Ranger (who J said looked about 12) we parked and started a two mile walk around the forest. The huge redwood trees didn't fail to impress.
From there we headed towards the coast and Highway 1, stopping at Stinson Beach for a fried fish sandwich and soda (root beer!) on the beach, followed by a paddle in the Pacific. Glorious sunshine assisted with the relaxed vibes we were now feeling. Back on to Highway 1 and up towards Bodega Bay, before heading inland to Guerneville in the Russian River area, where the Santa Nella guest house was our next stop - an old Victorian house beautifully restored and now an idyllic B&B. Bob the innkeeper welcomed us with cold glasses of white wine (Italian - scandalous!) and a board of cheese. After a long and winding road it was the perfect welcome.
Dinner in Boon, a small modern bistro on the Main Street in town - steak for me and tuna for J, accompanied by local wines this time.
