Day 6 - Sacramento to Yosemite National Park

After a rough nights sleep we had an even more disturbed breakfast on board the Delta King, with the previous nights revellers (an LA motor cycle club) being noisy companions at breakfast. By this stage we couldn't care less, and after a good laugh we had got the car back from the valet and were heading south on the I5 towards Lodi (more vineyards) where we stopped for provisions at Safeway (the equivalent of Waitrose at home - nice stuff but quite pricey). From there to Oakdale where we stopped at Rite Aid for a corkscrew, then continued to Yosemite National Park, eventually checking into our motel in El Portal around 4pm.

Having freshened up we headed back into Yosemite and stopped at Tunnel View before driving towards Glacier Point, stopping to do a two mile hike to Sentinel Dome. The weather was perfect and the sky a deep blue colour, and the sights were incredible. This place is amazing. From there we drove up to Glacier Point for the view of Half Dome (seen here) and the 6.30 ranger talk which was good fun, and once finished drove all the way back to our motel (knackering) for a well deserved tea on the balcony - meats, cheeses, crisp breads and houmus, and a bottle of Lodi Zinfandel, of course.

A long day, but oh so worth it...
