Red Flag
Hard to notice isn't it?
Had a lovely day with the girls. We went walking up to Glencourse Reservoir from the Flotterstone Inn. Toots is only 3 and a half with little legs in her very wee boots. But she did very well. As her little sister dozed in the fresh air we all set off on an adventure. The rough tough girl pirates had left a secret message hidden behind a postcard in the kitchen this morning and this was enough to start our search for treasure! A pirate treasure map was soon found and we were off.
Long and short was my little girl did well. She did manage up to the reservoir and back with only a little encouragement needed. Brambles were munched from bushes by the side of the road and many crows spotted by T but no crow's nest seen! ;-)
We finally turned back towards the car after much persuasion from T; "the car is a long way away now Daddy. We should go back that way". As we approached to car park a final gasp of "my feet can't walk fast Daddy. Now they can't walk any more. I'm tired and hungry". Goal achieved. Stopped for lunch in Flotterstone Inn and then onwards.
On the way back though we stopped to explore Castlelaw Fort. But it is on a military firing range and they fly red flags if they are firing. Not that the constant sound of rifle fire and echoes thereof didn't give it away. If the red flag is flying you don't go in just in case a stray bullet takes you out.
Strange thing was the car park was full of empty cars and you could see people walking over the top of the hill in direct line of sight of the firing range.
Maybe none of them saw the red flag.
Or maybe they wanted a little bit more spice than offered by a three year old's pirate adventure.
