Victories At Sea, Hare & Hounds - Birmingham

If I said this gig was awesome that would be an understatement.

I have been doing some web design work for my mates' band Victories At Sea for a while and earlier in the week I volunteered to take photos on the evening of the gig. With support from Manchester outfit Patterns and local band Free School, the line was near perfect for me. The situation got even perfect when I was told that the venue had been moved to the bigger room, which for shooting conditions is a whole lot better.

Took over 350 photos of the three bands plus a few audience shots and considering I had major issues with my previous gig, I just stuck with my manual settings (on the highest iso though) and took some shots that even I was impressed with, totally blown away with the seven stick motion from the drummer. Occasionally I would use the flash and I'm so glad I did as I managed to get an amazing shot of the bass player aka guacamole .

Talking of other blip users, cjstaples was in attendance, and in an effort to get her some experience I let her take some shots of the second support act with my camera.

At the end of the gig I was told that out of all the photographers that have taken shots of Victories At Sea, my images were up there with the best. I was really touched but then I was asked if I would be available to cover more gigs with my photography, and I don't think I've smiled so much since the birth of my son. I'm really enjoying this photography ride!
