Another day, another loaf

This time we have a chataigner figue loaf at the breakfast table. This is made from chestnut flour and figs and is utterly delicious. I bought it at the baker's this morning around 7am, when the village was alive with kids going off to catch the school bus, and grape-pickers hurrying to the vineyards for the last few days of the harvest.

I seem to have an out-of-focus patch in the middle of the photo, but I'll get better - honest.
