"slow synchro"
Tonight my brother played at the Gateway Tavern, quite well received. With a touch of serendipity, he lost to the bar's owner in a poker game about a month ago, but managed to walk away with five Thursday night gigs (which is great except that we'll both have to spend as many Friday-morning trash routes smelling like a freshly-metabolized gin and tonic).
I've got a million pictures of Matt doing exactly what he's doing in this picture, but I was a little surprised by the result of one of my eBayed camera's weird flash options. I have no idea what "slow synchro" means, but the effect reminds me of a picture from Celestial Navigation in high school, where a camera was aimed at the North Star and exposed all night so that all the other starlight traced rings around it. Speaking of which, I realized today that few, if any of the stars I recognize will be visible when I move to Cape Town next month...they will be missed!
