Along the Erie Canal
We took Daughter to college today and waited around for her, as her Monday consists of just one one hour class. Afterwards, we stopped at several stores to do a little stocking up.
Husband decided to take a more scenic route to Victor, a neighboring town, where we had a couple more stops. He traveled along the road that runs next to the Erie Canal. I still find it amazing that we live such a short distance from this historic waterway.
As we drove along, we spotted a huge older wooden boat just motoring along the canal. Right away, I saw an opportunity for a Blip.
Stop! I exclaimed!
Husband pulled over to the other side of the road and I quickly hopped out of the truck. As I walked toward the canal, I saw a Great Blue Heron just sitting alongside the water.
I got a few photos of the boat, but as I looked through all my pictures, I loved this one of the heron, framed by the trees. The heron allowed me to get so close, then it crouched, as though getting ready to take off. Finally, the bird stood tall and just strutted off as though going for a leisurely stroll!
