Listen up
A few years ago I got the message when my wife kept getting on to me for not listening to her, when I thought I was; I realised that I genuinely wasn't hearing her.
"Listen up", I said to myself, " Time to get my hearing checked."
Which I did, and discovered that I was hard of hearing. I got given a national health hearing aid, notice the "a", not a pair, just one. Well this was as much use as a chocolate fire grate; so I stopped wearing it.
Some years later, e.g. a year past April, I went to a private hearing centre and got my hearing tested again, to discover not only was I hard of hearing, I was profoundly deaf.
A year past May I purchased these little beauties, and have never looked back. They are amazing. They have several settings; one for every day, one for restaurants etc, and one for listening to music. The latter I just got downloaded today when I was in for my 6 monthly check up. The picture doesn't really show them properly, as they are very small, and if you didn't know that I wore them, you would not see them.
Now I have no excuse whatsoever for not listening to June.
Now all I have to do now is to get my brain checked over, and find out why I will continue to support my football team after they got humiliated (yet again) in the League Cup by East Fife, a team that is sitting bottom of the 2nd Division, favourites for the drop to the 3rd and lowest division. And here are us, one of only 3 teams in Great Britain that have never, ever been relegated from the top division. Although we have had a few close calls.
This could be the year though...
