Ballantyne's Trip
Today was something of a different venture for the 'girls group'.
Our main and most popular shopping store in the centre of town in Christchurch, Ballantyne's has not been accessable to us since the February Earthquake.
Ballantyne's have another branch in Timaru, 2 hours drive south from here.
They have been putting buses on for their shoppers, for $20.00.
How cheap is that. So we decided that we would take a trip, and what a trip it was.
We left at 9am and the heads of the shop joined us and took us for a 'trip down memory lane', by telling us some of the stories over the years. Our MC was also dressed in period costume.
On arrival in Timaru we were given complimentary drinks, and then a High Tea, which was really scrumptious.
After doing some shopping we meet up with Dups
On the way home in the bus we were treated to a beautiful book on the history of Ballantyne's, and also Richard Ballantyne gave us the information on the rebuilding of Christchurch and where Ballantyne's and the City are heading.
All told a great day out.
