Jacaranda
I love these trees. I first saw them in Melbourne on my first visit to Australia, back when dinosaurs ruled the earth...well in the 80s.
I'm lucky enough to work on a campus which has about 20 of them around and about, ranging from scrawny 6footers (2 meterers?) to these behemoths. Equally lucky to be able to see these daily but to have cleaners to clear up the lilac carpet of dropped blossom each day!
They are such a beautiful colour and my blip really doesn't do them justice. Unfortunately it was blowing a gale when I took these and the close-ups were very blurred.
