David & Goliath
The Danish container giant Maersk annnounced that they ordered ten so called triple-E vessels. These supervessels will carry 18.000 containers (or called TEU). Maersk has already the biggest container vessels in the world and will break her own record with the new series. The length over all of these vessels will be 400 meter. The vessel you see here was originally built as general purpose cargo vessel, but was apparently forced to switch to the container trade. Her wheelhouse was not high enough so the put a sort of dog-house on top of it. With her estimated capacity of 150 TEU she is exactly 120 times smaller as the new Maersk vessels, but i doubt if the Maersk captain will be 120 times as happy as his Indonesian collegue on theMentari Trader? I have my doubts.
