Today was the Cockburn Association's Doors Open Day across a series of venues in Edinburgh, which is an opportunity to visit buildings that are usually closed to the public or charge entry.

Craig and I took the opportunity to visit the Royal Society of Edinburgh building this morning. It was really fascinating to visit (I may or may not secretly wish that one day I'll achieve a high enough level within my field of interest to be nominated and elected to become a Fellow. Which is never ever going to happen, but you know, one can always dream). The lady who did the tour must have taken a shine to us because she showed us the President's study just before we left. Which was totally impromptu but rather amazing to see. That makes it sound like the photo is of the study, but it's not, it's of the sign on George St.
