Bunbury Staircase
Today's the day ........................... for the new generation
This incredibly chic-looking narrow boat had just navigated through the Staircase Locks at Bunbury - performing what is commonly known as the 'Bunbury Shuffle'.
The locks are joined together so that you come out of one directly into the next and you have to make sure that you have got your water levels right before you start. To further complicate things, the locks are wide enough to take two boats side by side so the passage through involves lots of shuffling about. It's very much a spectator sport!
The black and white narrowboat 'Corkey', manoevered by a young lady dressed in matching attire, had absolutely no trouble with it all. Ah well, good to see the next generation carrying on in style ...................
