Today's the day ........................ for a narrow escape

This was going to be a picture of a collared dove.

She is often to be found at the base of the trees where the bird feeders hang, quietly pecking away at the seed which has fallen down from above. She's a bit dozy to be honest - not easily frightened - and so I thought it would be an easy blip. To get the best view, I went upstairs and opened the window slightly so I could just get my camera into position.

I took a couple of shots and was about to take another - when suddenly there was an almighty commotion. The dove disappeared amid much frantic wing flapping - and this is what my third picture looked like .....................
