Earth from Above - street art exhibition
Earth From Above is a free outdoor exhibition along Rolleston Avenue that you can visit 24/7. Earth From Above is a spectacular showcase of stunning scenery and landscapes around the globe.
Photographer Yann Arthus-Bertrand has captured Earth from the air, offering a bird?s eye view on scenery from sunsets and glaciers to colourful market gardens. Earth From Above is the result of more than 15 years? photographing natural wonders.
It also had an environmental theme, and out of all the many images, I noticed there was only one image showing a positive message - all the rest gave examples of the way humans have damaged and changed the earth for the worse, which in some ways was pretty depressing. The only positive image was from Korea, where the harvesters of algae are making food without damaging the ecosystem.
The question is how much can still be saved, have we realised in time, and is the will there to do anything if it involves lowering our standard of living, or asking others not to raise theirs.
