The bright sunshine of the Indian summer this year in London is throwing some interesting shapes, like these within 50m of my office nearly in the sky. Away to the right is Dock Street, which runs north towards Cable Street, scene of the celebrated battle by residents in 1936 to prevent Mosley's fascist Blackshirts parading through a predominantly Jewish area of the East End. The battle's 75th anniversary will be marked this weekend with events including a commemorative march and rally on Sunday, October 2. Assemble at 11.30am at Aldgate East (junction of Braham Street and Leman Street). The rally is at 1pm in the recreation ground behind St George's Town Hall, Cable Street E1.
