Goldfinch
My what a morning! Glorious sunshine and lots of activity in the garden. I wasn't actually going to use this as my blip today I was thinking of picking this instead:
Honeybee on the daisies
But the Goldfinches were numerous and after standing for an age trying to get a photo of at least one of them on the feeder, I at last got my shot! Later on when I was inside getting my lunch I looked out of the kitchen window and there must have been at least 20 of them on the ground eating the sunflower seeds!
A few other birds to make an appearance at the feeder this morning were:
Great Tit
Blue Tit
Male House Sparrow
And I got a huge and delightful surprise when I looked up into the apple tree and saw a Tree Sparrow! The first time I've ever seen one in the garden! Every House Sparrow from then on was scrutinised very carefully in case it was actually a Tree Sparrow! Male and female Tree Sparrows look alike whereas the more familiar House Sparrow has very obvious plumage differences between the sexes.
