Citizen Office, St Vincent Place

Here be the Citizen Office, where the Evening Citizen paper was produced from 1889 on (more details here).

Apologies, this is probably not the most flattering shot of this amazing building. To my mind, this is one of the most striking and completely overlooked (at risk) buildings in Glasgow...

I pass this regularly when tootling to and from work and it's just such a shame to see it sitting empty, in a genteel state of decay.

It's the Flemish topping I love most, but the carving on the lower building is so delicate and detailed too. Do seek it out if you're ever in the vicinity of 24 St Vincent Place (seconds from George Square).
