Public Transport
I attempted to get a train from Garforth to Knaresborough. I bought the ticket then saw the display saying the train was late. This being the first in the chain. So I checked the Rail app to discover the next train in the chain had been cancelled. So with no point setting off to simply be stranded in Leeds, plan b was needed. This was a taxi. Very expensive but no alternative given time constraints.
How do people manage that rely on public transport every day? I truly would use it more if it were like, say, Spain where we ventured to Monserat by various means; all working, all on time. This in a country famed for a mañana attitude. So where was I? Oh yes, going to Knaresborough. The reason was to pick up a new (to me) as we are downsizing from the SUV to a more frugal and sustainable Golf. There, I've done my bit. I even have a reusable, collapsable bag in the door pocket now. This is because the ones in the boot invariably get forgotten until trolley loads of plastic bags are being loaded.
It's the unseasonably heatwave that's convinced me about climate change. May I should have gone for a G-Whizz. At least the fossil fuels are burnt at the power station then.
