Blessing of the Animals

We attended a uniquely Southern California event this evening, the 10th Annual Blessing of the Animals at our local dog beach. Following a parade of the assorted animals, including sheep, horses, chickens, cats and dogs as well as at least one turtle and a huge iguana, down a 100 foot red carpet, the assembled clergy performed the group blessing of the farm animals shown here. Finally came individual blessings of every cat and dog in attendance as the sun set over Palos Verdes.
