My mum

My mum sent this photo to my dad nearly 60 years ago. Theirs was a long-distance romance by letter. She worked in Belfast and he was a ship's surgeon in the Merchant Navy. After two years of courting she boarded a plane for the first time in her life and flew for four days to the Malaysian island of Penang to marry him. They are still going strong.
