Maunsell Forts

The Maunsell sea forts were built as anti-aircraft platforms in the Thames estuary during 1941 -2. Each set of platforms comprises a fort, this is a single fort, and they were placed to deter enemy aircraft using the river as a navigation aid on the way to London.
