Beware soft mud
I had to go to Whitstable today and after spending a smashing hour or so with a colleague I decided to pop along to Herne Bay for a coffee and a walk along the prom.
This shot shows the protective groyne which allows a sheltered space for boats to moor and, beyond it, the end of the pier. First choice shot shows a boat resting on the mud. Herne Bay pier was the second longest in the country but it was ravaged by storms in the 1970s and the seaward end was separated from the pavilion at the landward end. More photos on Flickr.
