Just so as you know where you are
Another visit to Culross this afternoon. We must like the place.
The wind was fair howling down the Forth, I think the villagers had battened down the hatches - nothing seemed to be open and the streets empty. The tide was out so there were no spectacular breakers. However, the tide line was lined with waders - curlew, duck, gull, oyster catchers and numerous others I couldn't identify.
Along at the far end of the village is another car park which boasts this display board complete with map and little snippets about the village. Must admit I did not know that the name Culross was derived from the gaelic for "Holly Wood". Certainly, with all the old buildings, the place could be a natural for a 17th century epic
