use it or lose it

voting should be compulsory. people have fought died to win the right to vote and are still fighting and dying to win the right to vote; we should not be allowed to be apathetic and take it for granted.

oddly, there is no overnight election edition for the scotsman this year, the final will be the usual 1am job. it has been decreed we won't get enough resutls for it to be worthwhile, but somehow we always have in the past. i fear another reason is the truth, but doubt we'll ever hear it (money for staff, getting the print slots now we no longer own our own presses are my faves). *shrug* i vote, i go to work, i come home at the usual hour and don't have to knacker my sleep pattern. but i miss the buzz and cameraderie of the overnighter...
