Salford Quays and Manchester
Bigger?
I've taken so many photos of Salford Quays, I realised I should look for a different angle.
This is from the viewing platform of the Imperial War Museum North and is looking towards Manchester.
(Beetham Tower can be seen in the distance.)
You have to pay to use the viewing platform, but it's worth it.
The blustery clouds suggest that a lot of rain is on the way, but it's not here yet. It now feels like Autumn.
EDIT: History.
The Lowry Outlet Mall officially opened almost ten years ago - I had a part time job in the then brand new cinema which was to fund a three week holiday to Brazil.
So what you see in the foreground would have been here, but the apartments on the left weren't anywhere close to being built, and Beetham Tower in Manchester city centre was just a hole in the sky.
When I first started work on Salford Quays, getting ever closer to eighteen years ago, none of what you see was here.
Maybe two buildings that can be seen in this shot, although this shot would have been impossible as the Imperial War Museum North didn't exist at that time. What is now in the foreground was rubble.
What is now a pleasant lunchtime stroll just couldn't have happened because the area was closed off.
So there you go.
