Life in the fast lane

San Jose

Flew into San Jose, Costa Rica at 5:30 am. We're a little tired but ready to start exploring the city. Met Laura and Adrienne at this hostel. This hostel used to be a mansion. It's very bring and colorful. Our room looked like a multi-colored parrot! Our shower was even more interesting, you can see into it from the room...oh well, we made it work.

Walked around San Jose. Nothing exciting as the city is ghetto. Checked out the Jade Museum which showed a lot of pre-Columbian artifacts of the local people. After the museum we got caught in a down pour so we ran into the first restaurant we saw! Spent a few hours there eating local food (mostly rice and beans for breakfast, lunch and dinner).

At night we checked out a few local bars near the University. Nothing too exciting. We quickly discovered that locals are not big on drinking in Costa Rica.
