Provoked to thought...

'to live, love, learn and leave a legacy...'

Yesterday I met a friend who I haven't seen since uni days. He and I were good friends but lost touch after we graduated as I spent most of the next few years traveling with work. He was my lab partner and his sense of humour got me through many a tedious 8 hour lab session and his superior intelligence got me through my exams!!

Today he has two little boys, and is juggling being a full time dad with managing his business in the evenings because a year ago his partner died of cancer. The sadness in his eyes made my heart hurt as he shared how hard the last year has been. But so inspiring was the love and dedication in his eyes when he looked at his boys and the determination with which he is facing each day.

On a day when the death of Steve Jobs is reminding us all of our mortality, I am challenged not just to focus on leaving a legacy, but to love well, to learn what I can, and to live fully and passionately the life I have each day,
