Fish Curers

Sandend is just another huddle of fishermen's houses round a now defunct harbour, in a beautiful sandy bay.
Its sheltered position means that it is protected for a large part from the prevailing SW winds.
With the high winds of the past few days, the water has remained relatively peaceful. With forecasted NW winds tomorrow, it will be interesting to see what happens in the bay.

Although the village has no church, shop, Post office, or cafe, it does have a fish merchants where fresh fish is gutted and cured.
I went in this morning to buy kippers to take along to son#1 in Elgin and blipped two of the workers gutting crates of fish.
It seems a cold, thankless and gory job, but the sun was streaming in through the windows and with the radio playing lively music, the place seemed quite cheery.

I had hoped to blip the Grandtwins when they came out of school, but the aversion they have to the camera is now even more pronounced, so I couldn't strike a deal with them however much I sugared the pill.

With the weather taking a downward turn this afternoon with squalls of hail being blown in on a strong cold wind, his Lordship has finally succumbed to a mancold.
Needless to say, he maintains I gave him it, and indeed that may be true although 10 days incubation seems rather too long.

Whatever the source, he is a man in the depths of suffering but has poured himself a stiff whisky- for medicinal purposes only, you understand, but boy, he has cheered up.
