Between the Showers
I logged on here first thing this morning, as I'm sure is the habit of so many of us here, and the blipfoto home page provided me with the almost instantaneous news of Steve Jobs' passing away. There was a short moment of confusion on first seeing so many thumbnail images of the man and the ubiquitous Apple logo, before the reality struck home an instant later. Linking through to the blips I read many great tributes. There could be no greater testament to the profound influence he's had on modern life than the fact that so many people here used their blip today to pay their respects.
I think his greatness will grow over time. It's a word that is generally used too lightly, but he was a true genius, and an inspiring example of what can be achieved by one person with sufficient vision and intelligence and drive and leadership. So, I feel very sad that we've lost the greatest innovator of my generation at such an early age. It's a dark day, but what a legacy to leave to the world.
There was very little opportunity to get out to take pictures today but this blip, taken of the lane that leads to our office, seems somehow quite appropriate. A day of heavy blustery showers punctuated by very brief spells of bright sunshine. And the predicted twenty degree drop in temperature has duly materialised!
