Chaos and Calm

My lips are sealed...

? Who am I kidding? I have news that I CANNOT keep to myself... So, my lips may be sealed, by my hands are not tied. Muahahahah.

If you've been keeping up to date with my slightly all over the place blipping, you'll be well aware that I am struggling at the moment, in a fundamentally terrible year. I keep telling myself that good things come to those who wait, and that all this chaos and devastation hitting myself and those around me will eventually come to pass.
Well. The chaos is still lingering, and will for some time. BUT... My patient waiting has been answered, and some good has arrived.

Okay, enough dancing around it... I'mma just cut to the chase, cut out the lengthy story, and just say it.
I've been given a media pass (access all areas, baby!!) for the Incubus show here in Melbourne in February, AND, as if that wasn't enough, a few hours after confirmation from Incubus' media agent, I received an email from the media agent for Kings Of Leon, ASKING if I'd like an access all areas media pass to take photos at any of their three Melbourne shows next month.
Uhh... YES!

The email from Kings Of Leon's agent was particularly lovely and inspiring. Paraphrasing, it said that it's rare for someone so young, still not considered pro gets photos like I do. I tend to ignore the 'God' moments, and get the really raw, honest photos, showing the musicians for people with emotions, not icons.

I also managed to secure the Incubus pass without help from my radio station boss. I did some super stalking research, found contact information for their media agent, and explained who I am, that I would be at the Melbourne show doing photos for one of the support acts (people I know and love!!), and asked how to go about obtaining a pass. Apparently my approach impressed them, as did my photos, and a good word from the manager of the support band.

Oddly, when I was 10 years old, I knew I wanted to be a photographer when I grew up. At 16, I was told photography would get me nowhere... LOOK AT ME NOW, MRS. COLLINS!!! A head-hunted photographer for biiiiiig, internationally famous bands.

You're a bonafide rarity."
