Serena Lodge Lake Naivasha
Today we travelled through the Great Rift Valley, first we visited Lake Naivasha, which is famous for its Pink Flamingo`s.
It was a very nice setting, however not my cup of tea, as it was too managed for me, it was like a large Safari Park i.e. Bewdley, Longleat or many others, but on a larger scale, you could tell the animals were much healthier.
Here we saw the last two of the Big 5 - Rhino & 3 Lionesses with 6 cubs between them, the only difference between this park and any uk Safari Park, is we were driving around, with the Windows open and the Roof up, at one point I could have reached out and touched a Lioness as she was walking past the vehicle, it isnt till you look back on what you did that day, that you realise how near to these Wild Animals you really were.
We travelled around the Park stopped and viewed the flamingo`s at ground level, and then went up to a look out point, to photograph down into the Valley where the flamingo`s were, it was at this point I came face to face with this little guy, he was less than 2 feet away from me, and I hadnt seen him arrive, all I heard was a bit of a commotion behind me, when I moved my eye away from the camera viewfinder, all I could see was 2 big fangs, well I made a sharp exit, leaving Pete & Jayne laughing at me, so unfortunately, I didnt take this Photograph myself as I had already disappeared by this time.
We then travelled onto Lake Nakuru, and went on a boat ride to see Hippos and we saw some Pelicans, a Fish Eagle in flight, and a lone Giraffe, and plenty of Waterbuck
