.....Daddy's girl......
came for a flying visit tonight when the S & H brought my car back to me.
Unfortunatey the damage had already been done!
Today I have been mainly staring at various ceilings....in agony.
Let me tell you what happened.
Woke at 6.15 to go fishing....weather... howling gale and driving rain.....so ...phoned Shaun and we decided to give it a miss. Watched the rugby instead. About 9.15, the wind had died, the rain had stopped and there was a hint of sunshine....so ...phoned Shaun to see if he fancied trying a couple of hours.
"I'm already here", he said, "we all are!"
"But you're the driver, I haven't got my car, why didn't you phone me?" I cried.
"Thought you would be back in bed", he replied.
As if! He's known me for years, we've been away overnight on Nationals together, he knows I never go back to bed once I'm up.
So..... decided to try and fit the gear in the S & H's car and go. Managed it too, with a bit of a squeeze. Got there around 10.00 , got two hours fishing in, caught two fish.....and then the Heavens opened. Hurriedly packed up as I had no brolly, wouldn't fit in the car with all the other gear.
As I was putting the gear back in the car felt a twinge in my back.
By the time I got home the pain was incredible...the Boss looked, prodded, poked and tweaked and then laughed.....at best a muscle pull....at worst a slipped disc.
Went to bed, couldn't sleep, couldn't turn over, just groaned quietly for an hour or more. Stayed there until dinner, managed to get a pair of trousers and a T-shirt on...sat in splendid isolation, on straight backed chair, after two Ibriprofen and a huge spray of Deep Heat. Reasonable comfort for about an hour.....and then the spasms started....so not a slipped disc, just muscular damage.
Since then it's been alternate lying on floor, sitting in chair and shuffling about, with spasms about every twenty minute.
The Boss has prescribed Ibruprofen every six hours, interspersed with paracetamol every four hours, it's taken the edge off but when a spasm hits can feel the wave of muscle pain rippling through the lumbar region. Tonight I'm confined to the spare room, with co-proxamol if I can't sleep, instructions to remove the pillows and "log roll" if I want to turn over as normal turning is a twisting motion which will cause more damage, and a flask of coffee in case I can't sleep....... "because we don't want you stumbling around, up and down stairs for half the night!"
My idea of curing it the Russian way with vodka has been vetoed, but I am allowed to alternate a bag of frozen peas and a hot wheat cushion if I want....although how I'm supposed to use them if I can't come downstairs I don't know....our spare room was devoid of a freezer and a microwave last time I checked!
I am in bol and need more boliutal-yayu-shi-ye, das vidanya moy padruga.
