Teeth
Ben dug his toothbrush out of our travel bag - that's how long it's been since I remembered to brush his teeth - and demanded to brush his teeth tonight. He wanted water and toothpaste and then proceeded to suck the paste off the brush.... *sigh*
Ah well. He's a proper little tired monkey again tonight. Here's hoping we don't have a repeat of last night as a result. He's not asked for a nappy so at least he's not worried!
Been a pretty good day today. Had a morning to ourselves this morning as mum and dad went to the tip and the supermarket for us, and Ben and I chilled out. And did lots of little normal housework jobs, washing up, dusting, wiping surfaces down... Normality. Just a hint of it. It was lovely.
We got Steve's laundry done this afternoon so he has all clean clothes to choose from to pack for Korea, and then there wasn't a great deal to do. Mum hoovered the floors, dad did some of the jobs Steve had left for him to do, Ben played and cuddled and drummed. I got a couple of backblips done!
I managed to cook dinner while Ben was being entertained - sausages and mash and broccoli - and Steve came home and fixed the floorboards, and after dinner I got Steve to screw all the floorboards down so we can put the carpet scraps back down again on the landing for while he's away. And so it's not so noisy getting to and from the bathroom!!
Stuart and three of the kids came round during dinner, Stu's going to give Steve a hand when he gets back fixing up the back bedroom with plasterboard and plaster where it's needed, before the decorating team come in. Ben was overjoyed that his friends had come round, even if it was only a brief visit!
I'm going to miss Steve. I'll say goodbye tonight I think, because chances are I won't've come round enough in the morning to say 'bye before he leaves for work.
Mum and dad are going home Thursday morning. I decided after this morning's chill-out with Ben that some time to ourselves would be just what's needed after the chaos so far this month. That only leaves me a week by myself, I think I can just about manage - there are enough good friends here to help me out if needed, or even simply for company!
Cuddled up in bed now with Ben. I do love my snuggly cuddles with him. He's in our bed from the off tonight - his choice - which suits me fine, it's really uncomfortable at the moment getting into his bed let alone out again!! Hopefully some time around his birthday we'll move out - to the sofabed in the front bedroom for now - and get his new big bed built and installed for him so he's got some time to adjust to it AND the fact he's got the room to himself before baby makes an appearance.
Much less weepy today. Yes there are still a few things that are trying to ruin stuff, inflation - or somebody's interpretation of it - being one, but I am not so utterly exhausted that things seem impossible any more.
Am actually beginning to be hopeful that what was the least finished room in the house might actually be our bedroom before long!!
