Peep, Muddle, Groover, Flick and ...Squeak!
Just when we were getting used to the fab four, along comes another one.
Originally we put a clutch of 10 eggs in the incubator. As the weeks went by they were candled at various stages and the ones that weren't developing were replaced by fresh eggs.
The consequences of which are that we are now into the second lot of hatchlings. This one hatched around noon today. She's called Squeak, the little one at the bottom of the pic and really demonstrates how fast the ducklings grow. Peep, at the top of the pic, is 6 days older and much, much more grown up.
I did try to catch a pic when they were all cuddled in heap around her, one of the others with a tiny wing round her shoulders. But I couldn't get the hang of taking pics under the red 'piggy' bulb and by the time I got anything vaguely visible they decided it was more fun to run around and trample over each other.
There are two more eggs due to hatch in the next day or so. But no sign yet. All getting a bit mad around here. I did actually consider taking a non duck blip but somehow nothing presented itself and I had to record No. 5 didn't I?
