It brightened up very nicely this afternoon. There was blue sky and fluffy white clouds. However, the mountains remained relentlessly hidden. The lower reaches were visible for a short time, but the peaks were covered with clouds.

It was very pleasant at the gorge. There were a lot of vehicles passing over the bridge, some going much faster than the speed limit. While the structure is sound the carriageway is in desperate need of repairs. Planks rattle and huge iron patches thump as vehicles pass over. It can be a bit alarming up there at present. Repairs are to be carried out next year, I hear.
