Motunau Island
Mum, Daughter E and I took an hours drive to the small settlement of Motunau. There are approximately 114 batches and houses and about 30 permanent residents. It is popular for fishing and has a tidal river.
Motunau Island has a distinctive flat top and is home to a breeding colony of 5,000 little blue penguins which is a threatened species. Other birds breed their including white-faced storm petrels, fairy pirons, sooty shearwaters, variable oystercatchers and white-fronted terns. There are also three species of lizards on the island.
Not long been home and have far too many photos to choose from but this one appealed with the lines on the sand, the rock and reflection and the outlook towards Motunau Island.
Well, well, well our mighty All Blacks won the game against our old rivals Australia last night - it was an awesome game of rugby, lets hope they can keep the pace up against France in the weekend. Yesterday's black and white shot of the All Black flag was a hit with you all and I thank you for your kind words, hearts and stars for a first for me, a image in mono - I was delighted to be on the spotlight page :)
I'm off to watch some TV with hubby and have a bit of a wind down - the sea air has got to me.
Have a great week everyone :)
