The Chair
Turbulent sky above 'The Chair' today, a nor'west wind pushing the clouds from the mountains out to sea, sheltered from the sand dunes it is the best time to be at the beach.
Designed by Christchurch architect David Hall 'The Chair' won the 2011 Canterbury Architecture Award for the Small Project Architecture - a lifeguard tower, a piece of oversized beach furniture which acts as a working sculpture in the landscape.
I had a great day with Daughter E, we made some Christmas cards, had a picinic lunch in the wind down by the river and spent some time at the beach, it was a warm 24C - roll on summer!
'The Chair' seems perched on the sand dune today with a little pine tree behind it.
