A Minsters Masterpiece

York Minster as a whole is incredible! And you could spend hours there looking at all the windows and all the memorial stones and the incredible architecture. Slightly difficult to pick just one photograph for today, but here it is.

This is a piece of glass from the East Window of the Minster. It's all under scaffolding and tarpaulin at the moment as the repairs and reconstructions are carried out. As you can see in this picture, when the windows were cracked or smashed the only way for them to be repaired previously was to add more lead, but now the glaziers can use some sort of epoxy resin to repar these. Hopefully when they're done, the window will look exactly like it did when it was made, and all the repair bits of lead will be gone.

Other interesting facts, it costs £10 a minute to keep the Minster open, and the tower (which you can climb to the top off) is 275 steps of hard work, and weighs the same as 40 jumbo jets!
