Spooky birds!

Lovely day here so off we went to RSPB Fairburn Ings, near Castleford.
Was 5C when we set off ,but warmed to a 13C when we got there.

Did a 3 mile walk round the reserve.It is a beautiful place (used to be coal mines) by the side of the river Aire.and yet very near the industries of the West Riding.

Hightlight was a Long Eared Owl .Very well hidden in an apple tree at the far side of a lagoon. We didn't spot it at first but fortunately someone came along who knew where it was. Too far away to take a good enough photo with my camera to blip.

Took this photo of the cormorants on the way back to the car. The sun was glistening on the water and I thought it made a good shot.
Always think these birds look a bit sinister!
