Hoover Dam

Las Vegas Day 4

The fantastic holiday continues ......

No Denny's this morning, instead, down to the lobby to wait on the valet to bring the car to us (I so love this!), then off to Lake Mead and the Hoover Dam.

Quick coffee at the marina as we waited for the paddle steamer to take us out on Lake Mead. Incredibly hungry cat fish in the marina being hand-fed with pop-corn by some of the marina staff.

Really enjoyed the sail in the breeze on Lake Mead which enabled us to see one side of the Hoover Dam.

After lunch at the marina, we drove up to Hoover Dam for the tour. K and I must have loud voices, because a couple of ladies overheard us asking each other where to buy tickets and called us over to give us their complementary tickets from their bus tour!

The tour gave us info on the whys, whos, whats and hows of the Dam. A'desk was able to take it all in and K and I were more interested in the social history of it all, rather the the turbines and wattage malarky! The Hoover Dam was quite an engineering feat, instigated by far-sighted people of the day, especially as it kicked off during the Great Depression of the 1930s. If this was all possible then, shame Edinburgh tram system couldn't have been managed by them!

Lovely Mexican meal tonight with sizzling fajitas, spicy enchiladas, moreish tortillas and powerful margaritas! Lots of laughs tonight.

Home to bed as tomorrow is GRAND CANYON DAY :)
