Advocacy.
Clearly this photograph requires no explaining as to where it was taken! Perhaps though, the reason why it was taken might be of interest to some. This photograph was taken on a work day of meetings in Westminster, London. However, this day was a special day because it was a day of my favourite meeting. I am very honoured and privileged to represent an MP by sitting on an influential committee on an issue I am very passionate about - the All Party Parliamentary Group on Poverty (APPG) in the House of Commons. Throughout all my career of working to eradicate poverty and of all the meetings working towards this aim both at regional and national levels, being part of and getting increasingly involved in the APPG on Poverty in Westminster, is my far by favourite. There are many reasons for this, but mainly because when sitting in the House of Commons - the pulse of power, influence and potential for positive lasting social change - are discussing an issue I am wholly passionate about and committed to improving, is a privilege and satisfaction beyond words. There is no place I'd rather be than a Parliamentary advocate on behalf of those most vulnerable in society who are all too often voiceless.
