Revolution started here

Bull House in Lewes, built c.1450, was where Tom Paine lived from 1768 to 1774 before leaving for the colonies in north America and then France. He was involved in the struggle for American independence and the French Revolution. I hope he would be encouraged by the occupations that are taking place around the world now.

For someone like me who loves taking photos of architectural detail Lewes is paradise - so many beautiful quirky old buildings, red tiles, old panes of glass, flint and brick walls.....it was hard to choose which to blip but I wanted Paine to be here today.
