Sick,undergarment and leech-gate,ohh and a choke..
Forget Watergate.. this is MUCH more interesting.....
Up,ready, pack supplies for inclement weather (weather we never got) .. packed blankets, extra out fit for all of us each, wellies, spare welly socks... 3 litres of extra water for dog bowls.... you name it we had it... even anti histamine or what ever it is called as this is the area where WASPGATE happened back at the end of the summer holidays (it was colder back then than it was today....)
Its just over an hour to the Welsh border from us and just over an hour it took, splendid !!!
Parked and waited for Louise,Flora and Joss,he is our token male human and then Marley the male pooch.Lou gets out of car and starts cleaning her floor mat,Flora has been sick within the last mile or so .... off we go merrily down the very steep inclines, laughing at the unfit red faced people coming back up from Symonds Yat village below us... we are smug... and feeling fit....
Had lunch at the pub at the bottom of the footpath, raring to go....we set off two miles to the funky bridge that sways... you may only have 6 people on it at any one time... get the otherside, find our secret beach..... so secret we all know where it is... and there we sat,the children stripped off footwear and proceeded to play in the river for almost 2 hours,in 18 degree heat.. for gods sake it is nearly November !!! we had been warned of flash floods and terrible terrible thunderstorms... errrmmmmm I think not,I even removed my jacket and thermal vest !! now when the children emerged from river play we remembered we had no towel.. so my vest was used it was then we found THE STOW AWAY.. on Floras shin... A LEECH !!!!! leaching off her,she was most brave about it I can tell you,the leech ended up on my luxury thermal vest... then back in the water after some mild squeaking, the leech did not squeak,Lou and I did.
We made our way back and up the step incline and, well quite frankly we were not so smug, happy fit people on the way down and we are red faced and sweating like piggies and making grunting noises.... and that was just Lucy.NOT so smug now.Get to the top and the Cabin cafe WAS SODDING WELL SHUT !! it usually closes at 5.30... not from the end of September,it closes at 4.. FFS I wanted a Mr Whippy.
So we set off for home and decided a McDonalds in order at Evesham... which leads me to choke-gate....... Lucy, decided to 'race' Joss at eating... and well... she choked... panicked .. we all did,I bash her on the back, scrape 50 tons of food from her gullet and well, she is fine, she was shocked and I was furious at her for cramming 6 cows in her mouth all at the same time.We had a 'meeting' in the ladies ... or rather a me a screech and then we all had a McFlurry and arrived home in the dark... what a LOVELY day :D
