Rome

Train to Rome from the port. Arrived in St Peters square as the Pope was giving his Wednesday address to the public, security was quite tight but no problems. I'd actually pre booked tour tickets to the Vatican Museum and the Sistene Chapel. On the way to pick them up were were accosted, in a friendly, way, by a lady who was working for a company that did guided tours, so we went with her to their office, paid our money and along with another 18 people we met our tour guide, a charming italian gentleman aged about 70.

We spent nearly 3 hours touring the museum and the sistene chapel, our guide was very informative and had a wicked sense of humour.

It was a breathtaking tour, paintings of unbelievable beauty, ceiling reliefs, mosaics and much more. Too much to take in in one go. I think a visit to Rome with my sister in law is a must for the future.

Back to the ship for yet another excellent evening meal.
