Tornadoes?

I just caught a couple of words of the weather forecast on Radio 4 and thought I heard the words tornado and southern England mentioned.

From this afternoon's weather, I'd predict a nice gentle evening ahead! The only hint of something going on was this large cumulus (I think) cloud emerging from the sea to the north of us. Cumulus clouds can create tornadoes if they grow big enough and can turn into cumulonimbus clouds which bring thunderstorms, so perhaps I should reserve judgement (until I awake in the morning). If the world's still there, the forecast was wrong!
