Veliko Tarnovo

After the millions of pilgrims and giant 8 lanes streets of Bucharest it was time to get out of Romania. I wasn't expecting much from Bulgaria but was extremely surprised to find the roads were fantastic and the place was absolutely stunning. We only had a 3 hour drive to head for Veliko Tarnovo, which was the captial of the 2nd Bulgarian empire in medievil times so wikipedia tells me. The city is based around an old citidel perched on the edge of huge cliffs similar to the ones found in the peak district.
This shot is the main entrance. To be honest I got some better pictures the next morning in the mist but this gives a good impression.
